LLANDEILO is as good as it gets when it comes to the level of crimes committed, according to PC Vernon Thomas.

When asked if the town was the safest place in Carmarthenshire by councillors, he said that while he didn’t have the exact figures, he was convinced that few places in the county had it better.

“I know that Carmarthenshire is the safest place in Britain to live,” he said. “And I know that our detection rate is eight percent above the national average.

“As far as Llandeilo is concerned, our crime figures are down considerably compared to Llanelli, Carmarthen and Ammanford.

“I can’t say the town’s the safest in Carmarthenshire without the figures, but I think Llandeilo is as good as it gets.”
