Llandeilo 0 Caerbryn 1 LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League Divison 2

CAERBRYN made amends for a 1-0 home defeat earlier in the season as they reversed the result at Llandeilo.

The game was only a minute old when Llandeilo's Alun Jones saw his fierce shot well saved by Alex Etheridge.

Mark 'Hovis' Swindells set up the best chance of the game after 20 minutes for Jason Morgan who hit a tame shot straight at the keeper from only seven yards.

Llandeilo had the wind behind them in the second half, and from a long clearance by keeper Simon Rees, Swindells just failed to nod the ball over Etheridge.

Dainton then created a glorious chance down the right and his cross brought back memories of Paul Gascoigne just failing to connect against Germany in Euro 96, this time it was Llandeilo's Jason Smith only a stud width away from opening the scoring from two yards.

The longer the game went on without a goal, both teams began to realise that one goal would be enough to win it.

That goal came when Roy Tomlinson on the left wing ran and ran at the Llandeilo defence and eventually found the breakthrough goal.

He drifted past three defenders before unleashing a bouncing shot that Rees could not stop as the ball squirmed through his gloves and inches over the line.

Llandeilo threw everything at Caerbryn in the closing stages and nearly stole a point when a sliced clearance fell to Kevin Jones who saw his effort cleared off the line.

Caerbryn took the points to close in on the Division 2 title race, which could be won by any of six teams.
