Llanwern 2 Cwmaman United 1 Macron Welsh League Division 3

CWMAMAN were very unlucky not to get a share of the spoils against one of the fancied teams in the division at the great facilities of Newport Stadium.

Cwm played some good football in the first half and went in at the break 1-0 up thanks to another goal from Steve Williams who picked himself up after being brought down in the box to score his eighth of the season.

The visitors started well in the second half, a Williams free-kick hit the crossbar and a later effort when he was clean through was well saved by the home keeper.

Cwmaman introduced all three substitutes in the second half, but Llanwern equalised with 20 minutes to go and broke Cwm hearts ten minutes from the end with the winner.

Among the Cwmaman players who shone were Alex Whitehead, Chris Williams and substitute Jonathan Thomas.

l Next Saturday Cwmaman United are home against Chepstow Town (ko 2.30pm), while Cwmaman Reserves are away to Ystradgynlais.

On Sunday, Cwmaman United are home to Monkton Swifts in the West Wales Cup Senior Cup First Round (ko 2pm).
