CC Evans Cup Quarter Final Tycroes RFC 11 Ammanford RFC 34

Ammanford went through to the semi final after beating neighbours Tycroes by 34-11. Tycroes forwards started the match with a bang and after 15 minutes play they drove over from close range with the try going to back row forward Craig Phillips.

Ammanford were once again show starters, but a break from young scrum half Ioan Jones, sent in flanker Lyn James for a well worked try. Tycroes English centre Jobie Randall put over a 30m penalty to lead 8-5.

Ammanford's faster threequarters however regained the lead when winger Ryan Davies sped over in the corner.

Outside half Phill Jewell increased the visitors lead with a well struck 35m penalty. Ammanfords pack were now getting into their stride and from a rolling maul No.8 Darryl Parkin used his strength to drive over for the third try.

Centre Robert Petrychen put over the conversion for a half time score of 8-20. Tycroes pack again at the restart set off at a fast pace, centre Randall put over a 30m penalty to cut the lead to 11-20.

Ammanford hit back within minutes from a scrum on the half way line, scrum half Ioan Jones streaked clear for a brilliant try under the posts, converted by Petrychen.

The visitors habit of taking their foot off the throttle again worked against them, when the Tycroes pack managed to work themselves over from close with second row Mike Davies awarded the try.

With the game almost over, Ammanford's pacey winger Hywel Thomas gathered a loose ball on the half way and showed everybody a clean pair of heels to touchdown under the posts. Petrychen closed the game with the conversion.
