AMMANFORD RFC proved unbeatable in the East Carmarthenshire District Under-10s Seven-a-side competition, once again kindly hosted by Brynaman RFC.

The promised rain held off and parents and players enjoyed all games, culminating in a closely contested final between Ammanford and Llandeilo.

However, this season's winners and runners-up, who usually travel to take on teams from all over Wales at Newport's Rodney Parade, have been left somewhat disappointed. New WRU administrator David Moffett's cut-backs have meant that there will be no All Wales Finals next month. Hopefully this will be a short term measure, and perhaps next season's Under 10s will have the opportunity to show off their talents on the big stage.

However, the District Final, as well as all the other games between local youngsters was played in good spirit with Ammanford - who only leaked one try all day - beating their Towy Valley rivals by a 10-point margin to claim the winners' prize.

First round: Ammanford 10, Llandeilo 0; Tycroes 0, Brynaman 5; Amman Utd 0, Ammanford 15; Llandeilo 5, Brynaman 0; Amman Utd 0, Tycroes 25; Ammanford 30, Brynaman 0; Amman Utd 10, Llandeilo 35; Ammanford 25, Tycroes 0; Brynaman 15, Amman Utd 0; Tycroes 0, Llandeilo 25. Final: Ammanford 15, Llandeilo 5.

UNDER PRESSURE: Tycroes forward Gareth Comley, although surrounded by Brynaman players, still manages to feed out.
