Only three communities in Dinefwr reported an increase in the number of Welsh speakers between 1971 and 1981. The greatest increase took place at Llandybie and the greatest decline was in Cwmaman, with major losses at Ammanford, Llandeilo and Llandovery. Increased migration into the area was also noted.

Residents of Tirydail complained to the Welsh Office about the storage of empty car shells on property used by a spare parts firm.

Llandybie Community Council's efforts to fight Boundary Commission plans to move the village borders ground to a halt when no residents turned up at a public meeting to rally ratepayers against the idea.

Dinefwr Council rejected a request by Quarter Bach Community Council for a bowling green at the recreation ground in Mountain Road, Brynaman, because of the cost of maintaining it and employing a keeper.
