HAT-TRICK hero Jason Smith inspired Llandeilo to a thumping win over Calsonic, which enabled them to maintain their promotion push.

The home side made the better start and they were unlucky not to be a goal up in the opening minutes when a deflected shot was pushed onto the post by keeper Simon Rees.

Calsonic were rampant and had two chances within 20 seconds. Once again Rees saved well from the initial shot then from the rebound he somehow flung himself across the goal to tip away the second shot.

Llandeilo were let off the hook and soon started to create some excellent attacking play with Ian Fender and Steffan Thomas instrumental in the heart of the midfield.

On 25 minutes Llandeilo went ahead when great work down the left side by Huw Evans and Kevin Jones led to Jason Smith scoring with a neat finish.

But back came Calsonic. Good work by the home side's No.10 led to a fine finish, much to the disappointment of the Llandeilo defence, which saw Gareth Norton booked amid claims of an offside.

Both teams failed to created any real chances at the start of the second half, although Calsonic came close, but brave goalkeeping from Rees again meant the shot ballooned over the bar.

Llandeilo started to increase the pressure with Jones missing a great chance in front of goal and Smith seeing his point-blank shot saved well by the home keeper.

With the game entering the final 15 minutes, Llandeilo created one of their best periods of football of the season in both defence and attack.

Defence-wise they threw their bodies at everything, blocking goal-bound shots and creating attacks from deep with David "Sicknote" Bevan creating havoc down the right.

In attack Llandeilo were excellent with Smith completing his hat-trick while wily old veteran Mark "Hovis" Swindells grabbed another as Llandeilo comprehensively beat one of their promotion rivals.

This was an excellent performance from the away side as they got their season back on track after two previous defeats.

Outstanding for Llandeilo were the new back four of Evans, Kelleher, Norton and Bevan.

Smith, with a fine hat-trick, and Rees for his fine hat-trick of saves in the opening ten minutes also stood out.

Llandeilo would like to thank The White Horse, MBP Fencing, J Carroll Property Maintenance and the Tregeyb Arms for their continued support.

On Saturday Llandeilo entertain Wellfield while the seconds travel to Carway.
