FOLLOWING the disappointment of losing against Blaenrhon-dda, this was just the tonic for the suffering Cwmaman supporters.

Llantwit Fardre started the stronger but without troubling Richard Walton in the Cwm goal too much.

Llantwit Fardre's centre-half pairing of Michael Jones and Mark Minton dealt with any attacks coming down the centre.

Cwmaman then started to find their rhythm by playing down the flanks, which resulted in the opener.

A swift move down the right saw great link-up play between Aneurin Evans and Gareth Jones, which resulted in an inside pass for Steve Williams to score a great goal.

Cwmaman should have doubled their advantage but this time Aneurin Evans's cross fell straight into the Fardre keeper's hands.

Immediately from the second half kick-off Cwmaman again should have doubled their advantage, but poor finishing and great goalkeeping from David Trott kept the score at 1-0.

Gareth Jones couldn't believe that his snap-shot didn't find the back of the net when Trott pulled off the save of the match moments later.

While the scoreline was still 1-0, Llantwit sensed that they were still in the game, but again they didn't trouble the home keeper.

Then, with 15 minutes to go, came the strangest decision of the afternoon by the referee.

Steve Williams was clean through with only the keeper to beat when the referee adjudged him to have handled outside the box, thus giving Cwmaman the free-kick.

The law states that he should have been sent off but remarkably he was only issued with a yellow card.

This was to the amazement of everyone - including the keeper himself!

From the resulting free-kick, Nathan Davies headed the ball back across the face of the goal for Paul Pugh to eventually bundle over the line for the cushion that Cwmaman so desperately craved.

Cwmaman now knew the game was safe and duly completed the scoring in the final minute when Gareth Jones's cross-cum-shot found Pugh at the back post to net his second of the afternoon.

A deserved victory for Cwmaman with good performances from Terence Bradley, Jonathan Thomas and the hard-working Gareth Jones.

Cwmaman's second XI lost 6-2 at Seven Sisters, Jamie Morgan and Jason Cousins on target.

On Saturday Cwmaman are away to Albion Rovers in Newport.
