LOCAL MP Adam Price has urged managing directors of Corus to keep work at the Llandybie profile and panels plant.
Adam Price has met with management of the company in support of the unions' bid to retain work at the site for the next 18-24 months.
Workers are currently undergoing a 90-day negotiation period over redundancies but the Carmarthen East and Dinefwr MP hopes that keeping work at the plant will secure long-term employment.
"When meeting with the managing directors I was keen to highlight the important role Corus has played in the Llandybie community," said Mr Price.
"Obviously, it would be a major blow to the village if the work was completely out-sourced and I have urged them to look at the union’s alternative proposals."
