Here’s a round-up of the cases.

CONNOR WILLIAMS, 19, of Parc Pencae in Llandybie, admitted careless driving after a crash on a roundabout in Cross Hands.

The driver of a Volvo XC 90 was driving eastbound on the A48 on May 2. They went round the Cross Hands Roundabout, intending to continue on the A48 towards Pont Abraham.

The defendant, in a Seat Ibiza, was intending to exit towards the Aldi store. Williams crashed in to the front passenger side of the Volvo.

Williams pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on December 20.

He was hit with five points on his licence and must pay an £80 fine, £110 in costs, and a £32 surcharge.

LESLEY JORDAN, 64, of Cranleigh Close in Penge, London, has been ordered to pay more than £1,000 after refusing to identify the driver of a van alleged to have been holding a mobile phone at the wheel.

The offence related to the driver of a Ford Transit who was accused of not being in position to have proper control of their vehicle. The driver was alleged to have been holding what was thought to be a mobile phone in their right hand on the westbound M4 near junction 48 on May 15, and looking down instead of at the road ahead.

No plea was entered on that charge, and Jordan was instead charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle when required.

Jordan did not attend court or enter a plea, but was found guilty as the charge was proved in the defendant’s absence at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on December 20.

The defendant must now pay a £660 fine, a £264 surcharge and £110 in costs. Jordan was also handed six penalty points.

AUREL MATMUJA, 46, of Llys Pencrug in Llandeilo, admitted keeping a vehicle that did not meet insurance requirements.

Matmuja pleaded guilty to the offence, which was alleged to have taken place on May 18.

The defendant was fined £146 at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on December 15. Matmuja must also pay £100 in costs and a £58 surcharge.
