A MAN accused of assaulting children outside a rugby club will stand trial next month.

Nathan Nordhoff has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating. He denies the charges.

South Wales Police were called to Parc-Y-Weirn, near Cwmgors Rugby Club, at around 6pm on Sunday, January 29 following the alleged incident.

Two of complainants in the case are 13 years old – although one was 12 at the time – and the other is 14.

Two teenagers – aged 16 and 13 – were also charged with assault.

Nordhoff, 37, of Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen, previously told the court he was a “peacemaker” in the incident, and had “intervened” to stop the fight.

He will appear in court next on November 6, ahead of standing trial on November 13.
