MEMORIES are a wonderful thing. They help us to remember the events of the past which we can look back on fondly - for the most part.

Some memories are buried deep and can be brought out with stories, videos and old pictures and are vital in remembering the history of our families and local communities.

This week, we delve into the South Wales Guardian archives for some pictures from the Ammanford area across the last seventy or so years.

The pictures all involve people - from schoolchildren and carnivals to Hallowe'en celebrations, miners strikes and mayors.

Do you recognise any of these people? Or remember any of the events?
