A POPULAR singer-songwriter will be in Cardiff next week, supported by an Ivor Novello winner.

Hozier will be in Cardiff Castle on Thursday, July 6 with support from Victoria Canal.

Victoria is a 24-year-old from Munich with Spanish-American heritage who was recently awarded for her work with an Ivor Novello Rising Star award.

She was praised by the judges for her ‘powerful songwriting and compelling sound’.

Victoria dedicated the award to her past teachers and mentors and how she hopes that it will help someone who feels they are different to know it’s possible to do what they want to, as she wished she had when growing up with a limb difference.

Victoria said: “I really could have used seeing someone like me on stage growing up and I never did so it’s truly an honour to think that someone else who feels different out there knows that it’s possible.”

Victoria Canal recently released singles Shape and She Walks In through Parlophone Records which is her first new music since the release of EP Elegy last year. Shape had its premiere on BBC Radio 1 with Clara Amfo.

Hozier and Victoria Canal will be at Cardiff Castle on Thursday, July 6. Doors open at 5pm and tickets are available at https://www.cardiffcastle.com/events/hozier/
