Plaid's Transport Minister at the Assembly has unveiled a consultation new guidance for setting speed limits on local roads.

Ieuan Wyn Jones announced the proposals at the Assembly which included measures such as 20 mile an hour speed limits in the vicinity of schools, speed limits through villages and 50 mph speed limits on lower quality rural roads.

Welcoming the plans, local AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas said: "I am very excited about the proposals put forward here which could potentially save lives in Carmarthenshire.

"Both I and my constituency colleague Adam Price MP have long supported calls to enforce a 20mph speed limit near schools and it is excellent news that the Minister has taken that forward."
