A youth charged with the murder of Ammanford hairdresser Kelly Hyde will face a six-week trial starting on June 30, a judge decided today.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared before Judge John Diehl at Swansea crown court for a case progression hearing.

He has already entered a plea of not guilty.

Patrick Harrington QC, prosecuting, said the case for the crown was complete apart from some still-awaited DNA evidence.

The youth is on remand at a young offenders' institution in England and was further remanded in custody after today's hearing.

Miss Hyde, 24, was bludgeoned to death on September 27.
