A NUMBER of roads across Carmarthenshire will be closed next week to allow for a major cycling event to take place.

The Women’s Tour of Britain is taking place on Friday, June 10 and will pass through Carmarthenshire.

Due to the high volume of cyclists taking place, a number of roads will be closed by the police throughout the day on a rolling basis according to a public notice placed in the South Wales Guardian by Carmarthenshire County Council on Wednesday, June 1.

The closure will take place between 10am and 3pm on Friday, June 10.

The affected roads are:

  • Factory Road and Rotary Way, Pembrey.
  • Lando Road/Danlan Road being the Principal Road A484 at Pembrey from the junction with Factory Road to the junction with the Class II Road B4317.
  • The Class II Road B4317, Pembrey to Trimsaran Road from the junction with Principal Road A484 to the junction with the B4038.
  • The Class II Road B4038 Bryncaerau Road/Heol Morlais, Trimsaran from the junction with B4317 to the junction with Culla Road.
  • Culla Road, Trimsaran being the B4317, from the junction with the Class II Road B4038 to the junction with the B4039 at Heol y Meinciau, Pontiets.
  • The Class II B4039, Pontiets to Pontantwn Road from the junction with the B4317 to the junction with the Class III Road Pontantwn to Llangynderyn Road.
  • The Class III Road Pontantwn to Llangynderyn Road from the junction with B4309 to junction with B4306.
  • The Class II Road B4306 Llangynderyn to Pontyberem Road from the junction with the Class III Road Pontantwn to Llangynderyn Road to the junction with the B4317 at Pontyberem.
  • The Class II Road B4317 at Pontyberem from the junction with the B4306 to the junction with the B4310 at Cwm Mawr.
  • The Class II Road B4310, Cwm Mawr to Porthyrhyd Road from the junction with the B4317 to Porthyrhyd Square where it bears right and continues towards Nantgaredig past the entrance to the Botanic Gardens of Wales to its junction with the B4300.
  • The Class II Road B4300 to its junction with B4310 leading to Nantgaredig.
  • The Class II Road B4310 from the junction with the B4300 to the A40 trunk road at Nantgaredig Square.
  • The A40 trunk road between each of its junctions with B4310 Nantgaredig Square.
  • The Class II Road B4310 from the junction with A40 trunk road at Nantgaredig Square northwards through Felingwm Uchaf, Horeb, Brechfa, Nant y Ffin and Abergorlech to the junction with the B4337 at Llansawel.
  • The Class II Road B4337 extending from the junction with the B4310 Llansawel for a short distance in a north-easterly direction to the junction with Class III Road leading to Crugybar.
  • The Class III Road at Llansawel from the junction with B4337 to the junction with B4302 and thereafter continuing from the junction with the B4302 to the junction with the Principal Road A482.
  • The Principal Road A482 from the junction with the Class III Road to the junction with the Class III Road.
  • The Class III Road from its junction with the Principal Road A482  through Porthyrhyd and Siloh to its junction with Cilycwm Road, Llandovery.
  • Cilycwm Road from its junction with the Class III Road to its junction with New Road, Llandovery being the trunk road A483.
  • New Road, Llandovery being the trunk road A483 from its junction with Cilycwm Road to its junction with Queensway being the trunk road A40.
  • The trunk road A40 Queensway, Llandovery to its junction with Principal Road A4069, Broad Street.
  • The length of the principal road A4069 Broad Street, Llandovery to Llangadog Square.
  • The length of principal road A4069 Broad Street from Llangadog Square south to a point where there is a cattle grid in the road near Pencaegarw Uchaf at a distance of approximately 10km.
