A MEETING has been set up between anxious Corus workers and Adam Price MP as the threat of redundancy draws ever closer.
Concerns over job cuts at the Llandybie plant will be addressed at a get-together between Mr Price and company staff on Friday.
Mr Price, the Plaid Cymru MP for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr, said that he had already spoken to representatives of the workforce to clarify their growing fears for the future of the firm.
"There are concerns not only about the future provision of work at the factory but about the level of compensation on offer to those already facing redundancy," said Mr Price.
"I have been in contact with the trade unions and hope this meeting will lead to assurances about the future of employment in the area."
Plaid Cymru AM for Llandybie Rhodri Glyn Thomas said: "This is an important employer for the area and I am pleased that a meeting has been arranged to discuss the redundancy issue.
"I am hoping that there can be a working compromise between the employer and the trade unions as to the amount of compensation, as well as a discussion on the future of the business in Llandybie."
