Consultation has begun to consider the new location for Cross Hands Post Office.
The service at Coop Cross Hands will close on Saturday, October 20 following the resignation of the operator of the Partner service and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use.
In order to restore Post Office services to customers in the village, the proposed new site is Sid’s Supermarket, 9B Heol Brygwili, Cross Hands, Llanelli, Sa14 6LR.
A spokesperson for Post Office said: “We’re proposing this move as part of the ongoing modernisation of our branch network.
“Over the last five years we have transformed over 7,500 branches so more customers can access Post Office products and services in a modern and friendly environment, often over longer hours including Sundays.
“We are confident that introducing a local style branch alongside a successful retail store is the most effective way to safeguard sustainable Post Office services in the local community into the future.”
If the move gets the go ahead, the new service operating from Sid’s Supermarket will commence on Wednesday, November 14.
