ALL roads lead to the Towy Valley this weekend as a baa-rillant annual event returns to town.

Llandeilo Show is taking place at Cawdor Fields, Ffairfach this Saturday, August 18 and organisers promise that there will be something for everyone.

Following the success of last year’s craft event there are even more exhibitors this year with more than 60 tables displaying everything from artwork to woodwork, cushions and clothing, soap, wool, pottery, jewellery and much, much more.

The show really does offer something for everyone, with classes for cattle, sheep, horses and pigs. The ever-popular dog show and fabulous entries in the produce and cookery tents.

There are also food stands to tempt you with locally produced foods.

The event begins bright and early with the BSJA-affiliated show jumping starting at 8.30am followed by the first horse classes at 9am, where visitors will be able to see some the best of local horses in breed categories such as Shetland, ridden hunters and children’s riding ponies as well as some novelty classes.

This is followed by the keenly-contested agricultural animal classes that include classes for sheep, cattle, poultry, pigs and goats.

Judging starts in the cattle ring at 10.30am with sheep and other classes following from there.

A Vintage Tractor Run has been added to the proceedings at this year’s event.

The run starts from Old Tregib School at 11am and will arrive at the Cottage Inn at 1pm for lunch.

After lunch, the run will then travel to the show field by 3pm for a Vintage Tractor Parade around the main ring.

Pig judging and the registration for the Lurcher and Terrier Racing will begin at 11am.

Commencing at 11.30pm, visitors will see the return of the very popular companion dog show to include both pedigree and novelty classes, not forgetting the lurcher and terrier racing and showing during the day at 2pm. So why not bring along your four-legged friends to join in the fun.

By 12.30pm, judges who have been sampling and marking the best in local arts, crafts and horticultural displays will have chosen their winners, meaning that visitors can head over to the marquee.

From children’s arts and crafts to cooked and baked goods, as well as the usual high-standard entries in floral and fruit and viewable classes, the area’s best efforts will be on show.

Why not pop into the craft marquee at Llandeilo Show as you’ll be sure to find something to tempt you.

Showcasing the myriad artistic crafting, culinary and literary talent in the community, this year there will be stalls selling a wide range of handmade items from cakes to clocks, books to bird tables.

Now would be a perfect opportunity for a well-earned refreshment break.

For those who want something stronger, the licensed bar will be open all day to quench those thirsts.

At 1.30pm is the Gymkhana, where visitors can have fun and games with their ponies so why not dress up for the occasion in your best outfits.

A parade of Llandeilo Farmers Hunt Hounds will begin at 2pm and at 3pm it is time for the prize presentation in the Horticultural Marquee followed at 3.30pm by a parade of prize winners.

The Vintage Tractors Parade will return at 3pm.

As evening descends it’s time to change into your glad rags and get ready for the annual dance and live entertainment from The Kiltics in the marquee.
