It's show time once again and preparations are well under way for Trap Show on Saturday July 28 and the show committee, along with stalwart support of the whole community, look forward to another enjoyable and successful event which has spanned over half a century.

The hot, dry summer has seen fields cleared of hay and silage much earlier than usual, there's never been a better time to make a day of it.

Trap Show boasts one of the most fantastic venues in the whole of Wales. A hilltop location just a stone's throw from Carreg Cennen Castle with the Black Mountains as a back drop and beautiful surrounding countryside as far as the eye can see down towards the Loughor estuary.

A perfect setting and something all the family to enjoy.

Presidents for this year's event are Colin and Pamela Jones, Llandyfaelog. Colin lived with his family at Garreglwyd Farm during his childhood years receiving his early education at Trap School.

Organisers look forward to having their company at the show.

Classes on the field will include sheep, horses, vintage, pet dogs, terrier and lurchers – all in tip top condition and a spectacular shop window for agriculture and the rural way of life.

The Domestic and Horticulture at Trap always takes your breath away. Without fail, you can expect a wonderful spectacle that can easily stand along with the best of shows.

Classes include cookery, handwork, art, photography, woodwork, sticks, flowers, vegetables and children's' competitions.

The wealth of talent, skill and imagination of our exhibitors is truly inspirational.

There will be various craft demonstrations throughout the day including wood carving, halter and rope work, basketry, leather work, wool spinning and hands on jewellery and pewter work.

The Caterpillar digger challenge is always popular with the children.

The children’s sports are always popular and for those with pet dogs a chance to introduce them to showing classes.

The evening entertainment includes an It's a Knockout with £50 prize for the winning team, a quoits competition, hog roast and live entertainment with popular singing group The Radnorshire Twurzels.

Plenty of entertainment in store and with free evening admission to the marquee, where else can you have such good value for money?

A great place to meet up with friends old and new. See you there.
