Youngsters in the Amman Valley have signed up as Mischief Makers for the summer holidays.

Inspired by Beano celebrating it’s 80th anniversary, Gwaun cae Gurwen Library Y Lolfa are encouraging children to read any six books over the summer to be in with a chance of winning stickers and prizes for each book they finish as part of their annual summer reading challenge.

Library coordinator Lucy Harrison said: "Last year we had record numbers of children taking part in GCG's Challenge and a strong team of young reading "Hack" volunteers helping with all our activities and helping children to choose their books.

“We've even more reading hacks this year, ready to share their enthusiasm – what are you waiting for?”

There are many activities taken place at the library during half term.

Afternoon of Fun is being held on Thursday, July 25 from 2pm until 4pm which will see the library join forces with Partneriaith and Busy Rascals mother and toddler group with bouncy castle, face painting, raffle, treasure hunt and much more.

There is also a library sponsored silence activity and games morning on Tuesday, August 7 at 11am.
