A man has died following a road collision in the Swansea Valley.

The collision involved two vehicles and took place on Brecon Road, Ystradgynlais on Tuesday, July 17.

The road was shut while police, the fire service and Welsh Ambulance Service secured the scene and treated injuries of those involved.

Two people, a man and a woman, were later taken to Morriston Hospital.

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed the man died from injuries.

A police spokeswoman said: "Shortly after 11am on Tuesday, July 17, police received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Brecon Road, Ystradgynlais.

"The collision involved a silver Toyota Avensis and a grey Honda Civic.

"A man and woman were conveyed to hospital and tragically the man passed away a short time later.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 112."
