An Amman Valley teenager has been given a cash boost to be able to attend the leading music Theatre Company for Young People.
Rebecca Garton, of Garnant, has recently learned that she has been offered a place with Youth Music Theatre UK.
The 14-year-old was one of over a 1000 youngsters from 12-24 who attended a national audition for a place on a residential musical theatre course and production in Plymouth in August.
Rebecca has to fund the course herself and has to raise £1550. She was delighted when Ammanford Lions Club were the first to respond to her requests for help.
The Lions donated £250 to help Rebecca fund her dream.
Rebecca said “I have always loved drama, dance and music.
“I attend Ysgol Bro Dinefwr and I am a member of Fame Factory, a theatre group in Ammanford.
“I feel so lucky to have been offered a place in a YMT production.”
Rhian Thomas, President Of Ammanford Lions, added: “The Club voted unanimously to support Rebecca.
“We hope she will be successful in raising the money she needs.
“It is an excellent achievement to be selected from among so many to perform in Cautionary Tales and we wish her the best of luck. “
