The sun shone brightly when the 31st Annual Trap Show Charity Fun Run got under way on Sunday, May 13.

Ospreys Full Back Dan Evans sounded the hooter to start the Open Race of 4.7 miles and the 2.8 mile race for juniors and walkers.

260 participants, from near and afar of all ages and athletic ability, gathered outside the Cennen Arms, each one intent on enjoying the experience whilst helping to raise funds for Cancer Research Wales as well as Trap Show.

The event included many familiar faces but just as many new faces too, and whilst no records were broken as was the case last year by Dewi Griffiths, it was nevertheless a great race with strong performances

In the Open Race, first to cross the finish line was Rob Davies of Aman Valley Harriers in a time of (26.42), a successful week for Rob as he also won the 5K race at the Carmarthen Mayor's Race.

The first lady home was Wendy Price of Llandovery (31.28), a win made all the sweeter when she learned that her son Scott had taken the honours in the Junior Race (17.23).

Clara James of Betws, a prize winner at the previous Trap Run, took the title in the Junior Girls Race.

The event has also become very popular with walkers, some with little ones in buggies, others with dogs, but regardless of the their pace, all intent on enjoying the camaraderie and friendship that is always so evident here.

There was a generous array of prizes once again thanks to kind sponsorship from Brecon Water, Gelli Plant, SJ Griffiths & Son, Morgan Marine, Hughes Decorators Glanaman as well as medals from Dyffryn Cennen Community Council, which all helps to attract strong attendance.

Another successful day blessed by fine weather, a great attendance and aided in no small part by the mammoth effort of our hardworking stewards and marshals. Diolch am bob cefnogaeth,
