Dyfed-Powys Police has achieved a stamp of approval as a great employer, from the global people management body - Investors in People.

Following interviews with staff and a rigorous assessment the force now meets standard accreditation - demonstrating their commitment to high performance through good people management.

The organisation’s progress over the past 12 months was dubbed ‘exemplary’ and changes made recognised as having a positive impact both in terms of results and perceptions by the staff interviewed.

Reflecting on changes made in the police force over the last 12 months, Chief Constable Mark Collins said:

"I was so proud to return to Dyfed-Powys Police nearly 18 months ago - the force was in a challenging situation but I was realistic about what needed to be done.

“I was certain that to begin the turn-around our workforce and the Inspectorate was telling us they wanted to see, I needed to get out amongst our officers and staff and understand their challenges.

"At the root of everything we have achieved together this year has been conversation, openness and honesty. We now have a strategy in place which puts the wellbeing of our workforce and developing leadership, at the heart of everything we do.

“We've now achieved two 'good' ratings in Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) PEEL Legitimacy report, and made big gains in the leadership journey we are on.

“According to our most recent staff survey, people are feeling more confident, more able to challenge, more empowered and are listened to.

“What has stood out for over these 18 months is the dedication and commitment our officers, staff and volunteers have for the communities they serve.

“The embedding of our new leadership and wellbeing strategy will take this further and will continue to strengthen the foundation from which I hope Dyfed-Powys Police will build and build over the coming years."
