A successful traffic campaign took place across the Ammanford and Amman Valley this week.
Ammanford Police took part in a Traffic Operation on Monday, March 19 alongside officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Code E Response Ammanford.
In just a few hours two drivers were caught driving without wearing a seat belt, one motorist given a warning, one male arrested for driving whilst unfit, a ticket was issued to another driver for not having an exhaust, one vehicle was seized and the driver was reported for driving without having insurance and one male was reported for possession of cannabis.
The campaign follows a week after John Williams, from Wales Road Casualty Reduction Partnership, attended an Ammanford Town Council meeting to talk to councillors about setting up a Community Speed Watch group in the town.
A minimum of three volunteers are needed to create a group in one affected area, and the kit is ready to be used at Ammanford police station.
“There is no confrontation involved,” said John.
“The group simply take down the registration of the vehicle after they have been caught speeding using the handheld device.”
