Capel Hendre are still without broadband service following a crash last Friday morning.

Over 300 homes have been left without internet all weekend after a car crashed into a broadband box during the early hours of Friday morning.

The incident occurred on Hendre Road at around 12am on Friday, March 16.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "“Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a road traffic collision at Capel Hendre square, at 12.15am.

"Two cars – a silver Ford Fiesta and a grey Audi A4 – were involved in the collision.

"No injuries were reported. An electrical cabinet was damaged.

"Recovery and BT were at the scene at around 1.35am.”

Speaking on Friday, County Councillor Carl Harris told The Guardian: ""I understand all individual cards within the green box are in tact, but the speed of reconnection will depend on whether or not the fibre cable itself has been damaged.

"All being well Openreach hope to have everyone back online within 24 hours."

After three days without internet, Cllr Harris has been informed that the broadband service should be up and running this evening, March 19.

He said: "What Openreach hoped would be a 24 hour turn around has now seen residents go the entire weekend without internet.

"It hopes everyone will be back online by Monday night.

"I've been contacted by a number of residents who say that Openreach has told them their engineers don't work on weekends.

"I'll be following this up with our MP and AM to see whether Openreach does indeed have such an unreasonable policy.

"For most homes Broadband is the fourth utility, and just like electricity, gas and water, if there is a fault with that utility the company should work around the clock to put things right."
