RESIDENTS in Carmarthenshire are being reminded that all missed waste collections from last Friday, will be collected this Saturday, March 10.

This week’s collections will be taking place as normal.

Any residents whose waste was not collected on Friday, March 2 due to the weather conditions, are being asked to take their waste in again until the collection on Saturday.

Executive board member responsible for environment, Cllr Hazel Evans, said: “We took the decision to suspend refuse collections on Friday due to the impact of snow and ice in many areas of Carmarthenshire.

“We appreciate the inconvenience this has caused many households, but we’re sure people understand that we cannot put the safety of our crews and members of the public at risk.

“Our crews drive heavy vehicles on roads and lanes that may have been untreated, and although roads were fine in some areas, other parts of the county were badly affected.

“Crews not only have to carry out their rounds but also transport the waste to landfill and recycling sites, many of which were closed owing to the weather.

“Instead, our crews were able to support our highways team to hand grit walkways and pedestrianised areas in town centres.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all residents for their understanding and cooperation in this matter.”

Any commercial waste collections that were not collected on Friday, will be collected as normal this Friday.
