An Amman Valley youngster has jumped her way into the final of the biggest schools sporting competition in the UK.

Ysgol y Bedol pupil Madison Davies will be representing her school in the British Schools Gymnastics Associations national final next month.

The British Schools Gymnastics Association is a registered charity formed to promote participation in, and the development of gymnastics in UK schools.

It embraces all gymnastics disciplines and is fully inclusive of able bodied children and those with disabilities.

Working alongside other national bodies such as British Gymnastics, the BSGA offers alternative competition pathways for novice and intermediate gymnasts whilst also encouraging elite performers to excel in their disciplines at the same events.

The 10-year-old will be competing against other schools in the Disability Elite Category for Trampolining in Northern Ireland on Saturday, March 24.

The event is being held at the Ards Leisure Centre, Newtownards.

The Year 6 pupil was lucky enough to finish in first place in Chesterfield on January 21, which earned her place in the finals.

Madison’s mum Hayley said: “We are all very proud of Madison and what she has accomplished.

“She absolutely loves trampolining and gymnastics. We are all looking forward to supporting Madison in the finals in Northern Ireland next month.”

As well as trampolining, Madison is a keen artistic gymnast and is currently a member of Neath Afan Gymnastics Club where she trains five nights a week.

Over the last five years Madison has been winning competitions and scooping awards in competitions across the country.

She was recently awarded Most Promising Disability Gymnast by Neath Afan Gymastics Club.

A spokesperson for Ysgol y Bedol said: “We are very proud of Madison’s achievements and it is a privilege to have her as a pupil at our school.

“We wish her all the best of luck in the upcoming National Final Championships in Northern Ireland and we hope she brings the title home to Ysgol y Bedol.
