The First Minister of Wales today made a statement in the National Assembly for Wales in which he apologised to Plaid Cymru AM Adam Price following his misleading and wrong accusations regarding Mr Price's engagement with Hywel Dda University Health Board.

Hywel Dda Health Board issued a full public apology to Mr Price within 24 hours of last week's session of First Minister's Questions.

Today, First Minister Carwyn Jones apologised to Mr Price, stating his contribution to the Chamber last week was "not worthy" of the Welsh Parliament.

Responding, a spokesperson for Adam Price said:"The First Minister's judgement was once again called into question last week, not least over the use of information sought by the Civil Service but used for political purposes.

"It was right for the First Minister to go to the Assembly Chamber today to apologise to Adam Price, and to acknowledge that his contribution last week was not befitting of the Welsh Parliament.

"We continue to have profound concerns regarding the relationship between the Welsh Government and independent public bodies, and the way in which confidential information about elected members is sought and used.

"We will continue to pursue these concerns rigorously. Today's apology does not remove the need for the First Minister to refer himself to the independent advisor on the Ministerial Code."
