An angry woman who drove through Cross Hands with a man clinging to the bonnet of her car has been banned from driving and made the subject of a suspended prison sentence.

Deborah Ellson, aged 42, of Pontardulais Road, Cross Hands, had been convicted of dangerous driving after a trial at Swansea crown court. She was cleared of a charge of assault.

Ellson had been in a confrontation with Jonathan Morgan on the trading estate on the outskirts of the village.

The jury heard how Mr Morgan and his partner Bianca Roberts returned to his BMW to find that Ellson had parked her car so close to his that he couldn't get in through the driver's side door.

After insults had been exchanged Ellson suddenly drove off while Mr Morgan was standing in front of her car and he was knocked onto the bonnet.

Mr Morgan described how Ellson drove through the trading estate and around two roundabouts with him on the bonnet.

He said he finally let go as she negotiated the large roundabout on the A48 and he feared she was about to enter the dual carriageway and pick up speed.

Ellson claimed that she had driven at walking speed but Mr Morgan had refused to get off the bonnet.

Ellson was jailed for nine months, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete 15 days of a rehabilitation activity.

She was also banned from driving for 12 months, ordered to pass an extended test before getting her licence back, and told to pay a surcharge of £140.
