A Cwmgors man has been jailed for two years after officers found photographs and videos of teenage girls being abused in his possession for the second time.

Stuart Cromwell, of Heol y Gors, had previously admitted to six counts of making indecent photographs of children and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) which had been imposed following his previous conviction when he appeared in court via video link for sentencing.

When police visited the 63 year olds work place and seized computer equipment, they found more than 220 films and photos of young girls.

Swansea Crown Court heard that in 2013 Cromwell was given a suspended sentence for possessing indecent images of children, offences having taken place over a period of 12 years.

The court also heard that this was the second time he had been found with such material, and a sex offenders programme he completed had not worked.

An examination of computer equipment seized from his office uncovered 153 Category A pictures and videos, the most extreme kind, along with 46 Category B, and 29 Category C photos and movies.

Craig Jones, prosecuting, said in September last year police executed a search warrant at business premises on the Players Industrial Estate in Clydach where the defendant worked.

Cromwell told officers that they would find “stuff” on his work computers, but nothing on his home computers.

Officers found no similar material on devices at his home address.

In his subsequent interview he said he had downloaded images of girls aged between 13 and 16 for “self-gratification”.

For the Category A offences Cromwell was sentenced to two years in prison, for the Category B offences to 18 months, for the Category C offences to 16 months, and for breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order to 18 months, all the sentences to run concurrently, at the same time, making a total of two years in prison.

He was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years, and will be a registered sex offender for 10 years.
