THE start of the new year could have been a completely different story for a Glanaman man if it wasn’t for the generosity of the good samaritans in Ammanford.

Cwmaman Town Councillor David Williams, otherwise known as Dodge W, had been shopping at Iceland on Quay Street, Ammanford on January 4 before he was driven home by his wife.

Five minutes into his journey, Mr Williams received a phone call from a colleague at Santander Bank in Ammanford who informed him that his wallet had been handed in, although he hadn’t realised he had lost it.

“I must have dropped my wallet as I came out of Iceland,” he said.

“There was around £480 in cash, all my bank cards and my drivers licence in the wallet.

Mr Williams went to the bank where he had his wallet returned to him with everything still intact.

The councillor is full of praise for the good samaritan who returned his cash-filled wallet to the bank and also to the staff at Santander for contacting him so quickly.

He added: “The kind person who found my wallet handed it in to my bank after spotting my Santander bank card.

“It is excellent to see that there are still good samaritans in the area and I would like to thank the generous lady who handed in the wallet and the staff at Santander Bank in Ammanford.

“It could have been a completely different story if it got into the wrong hands, especially with people paying off their Christmas bills.”

All the good samaritans involved have all received a gift off Mr Williams as a token of his appreciation.
