Models will be strutting their stuff in the Towy Valley next month.

Lian Poulson, from Llandovery, heads her own fashion brand called Lian Cara Designs and will be hosting a Winter Wonderland Fashion Show in February to showcase local designers, as well as her own work.

The 23-year-old has been planning the event since October last year, and is excited to display her designs as well as highlighting the work of other designers from the South Wales area.

“The fashion show is a chance for local designers, like myself, to give the audience a chance to see their designs on the catwalk,” said Lian.

“The collection I am showcasing will be my first collection people can buy so I am really looking forward.”

Miss Wales winners and Britain’s Next Top Model finalist Gabriella Jukes will be strutting their stuff in items created by 12 local designers from Jordan Prilezky and Kelly Gilpin to Betsan Hughes and Julia Davies.

Fashion is not a subject that initially drew Lian’s interest, but sewing was, and she was using her first sewing machine by the age of 12.

Lian is currently working as a fashion resident at Carmarthen School of Art where she is designing her ready-to-wear collection entwining and promoting the college’s facilities into her designs, such as intricate laser cutting.

But womenswear designer Lian is going from strength to strength with her artistic creations.

As well as being named the winner of the Beacon Bursary last year, Lian has also caught the eye of a global fashion publication.

Through social media, Lian’s Welsh countryside inspired designs drew Vogue’s attention.

The former Ysgol Tregib pupil said: “My designs from my Natural Reflection collection were published in British Vogue magazine in January and they will also appear in February and March editions.

“The collection combines architectural arches and shapes to inform the silhouette and structure of the garments, whilst maintaining a sense of fluidity and movement which can be found in Wales’ natural landscapes.

“I still can’t believe it, seeing Vogue appear in my emails is the best feeling ever.”

The Winner Wonderland Fashion Show is taking place at Myddfai Community Hall on Saturday, February 3 at 3pm.

There will be an afternoon tea and Prosecco available and also a live band.
