A Carmarthenshire-born doctor will be in the spotlight over the next few months as he becomes part of a team of experts who feature as part of a brand new TV series aiming to help five enthusiastic people to follow a fit and healthy lifestyle.

Everyone tends to enjoy a treat over the Christmas period, but soon our minds turn to the effect it could have on our health.

As we start 2018, S4C is offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change old habits for good in the new FFIT Cymru series.

This is a unique opportunity for someone to gain from the services of a professional personal trainer, dietician and psychologist who will support and advise them every step of the way – and who are dedicated to making sure they reach their goal.

Dr Ioan Rees studied psychology at Cardiff University, and has had an impressive career.

His line of interest is to encourage people to overcome their worst fears and weaknesses and in order to achieve something they never thought possible.

In 2008 he completely changed his way of life to lose five stone and has since competed in six Ironman competitions.

“I get a personal and professional satisfaction now that I can combine my own experience with psychological techniques to help others discover a healthy way of life despite all life’s challenges," said Dr Ioan.

Series Producer Siwan Haf said: "Forget joining an expensive gym, this is the chance to start living healthily with the help of our team of enthusiastic experts.

"On FFIT Cymru we will support you every step of the way.

"By taking small steps and making changes in your everyday life, you can make a big change to your body and mind.

"You don't need to spend hours on the treadmill; you will not have to starve yourself every day - together we can change our way of life and inspire others to do the same.

"At the beginning of the year, our thoughts will turn to making resolutions and pledging to eat healthily and to do more exercise, especially after overindulging at Christmas. Now is the time to go for it!"

FFIT Cymru will be shown on S4C in April 2018.

If you're keen to get involved, you can register now on the s4c.cymru/ffitcymru website.

The closing date is on February 2 2018.
