MORE communities have joined the Pride in your Patch campaign to help clean up their environment.

Over the past few weeks, events have taken place at Darren Las in Upper Tumble, Pembrey and Llwynhendy.

Volunteers in Tumble took part in a litter pick of the whole estate and collected around 12 black bags full of rubbish.

Pride in Your Patch is a partnership project working to support volunteers, community groups, registered charities, and not-for-profit organisations to clean up areas of public land.

Partners are Keep Wales Tidy; Carmarthenshire County Council; Ammanford and Carmarthen town councils; Llanelli Town and Rural Councils; Spice time credits; Flytipping Action Wales; and Carmarthenshire Housing Standards.

The groups work with communities to help spruce up their areas through offering expert advice, equipment and assistance on litter picking, fly-tipping removal, graffiti removal, painting and general sprucing up, strimming and weed clearance and making your space more wildlife friendly

Carmarthenshire’s executive board member for the environment Cllr Hazel Evans said: “Regular events are held across the county through Pride in Your Patch, more and more communities are helping to clean up their environment.

“We are happy to support any groups or individuals who are interested in improving their area.”
