A 51-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a collision which killed a pregnant Ammanford stage school teacher.

Rebecca Evans, originally from Penygroes, was killed in an accident on the M4 motorway near Port Talbot on November 29 last year.

The 27-year-old was eight months pregnant and her unborn daughter Cari also died.

Rebecca’s partner Alex and their two-year-old son were also in the car.

Whilst Alex, 28, was unhurt, Cian was badly injured.

The toddler had two fractured femurs and a fractured skull and was flown by Air Ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Before her passing, Rebecca was part of Encore, an Ammanford stage school, for three years teaching aspiring children and youngsters all the skills they need for a career on stage or screen.

Both Rebecca and Alex worked at Shelter Cymru and the couple were on their way to work when they were involved in the three-car collision.

Colleagues from Shelter Cymru and friends of Encore have raised thousands of pounds over the last 12 months which have been donated to Wales Air Ambulance.

A group of 30 parents and friends of Encore stage school recently teamed up to run Cardiff Half Marathon in memory of the former dance teacher.

Encore has raised over £13,000 for the charity since New Year’s Eve last year.

From recording songs to hosting shows, Encore principal Elin Murphy has been determined to raise as much money in memory of Becca.

Elin said: “Wales Air Ambulance do not receive direct funding and it is not until something happens close to home that you realise how important their service is.”

South Wales Police said the incident involved a Peugeot, a BMW and an Audi, and took place on the westbound carriage of the M4, between junctions 38 and 39, at 8.20am on November 29 2016.

Craig John Scott, of Heath, Cardiff, was charged on October 25 with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He will appear at Swansea Crown Court on December 22.
