PURTON improved markedly on their efforts in recent weeks when they rattled four goals past Westbury Utd Reserves on Saturday, writes Alan Eastwood.

The Purton management team welcomed back George Drewitt and gave debuts to recent signings Sam English (a club player last season) and Imman Baines.

Jack Duckers shot narrowly wide early on and Drewitt hit the woodwork.

On 35 minutes Purton took the lead when a Baines corner kick was headed in by Duckers for the only goal of the half.

Just two minutes into the second half Baines broke free of the visitors' defence and slotted past the Westbury keeper.

Purton made it 3-0 when Duckers galloped clear before teeing up Baines to finish.

Chris Avery, on as a sub, made it 4-0 after 85 minutes when his 20-yard shot took a slight deflection off a Westbury player before finding the net.

Imman Baines, on debut, was the management team's man of the match and they were pleased with a much improved display after recent defeats in both cup and league.

On Saturday, the club play host to Ludgershall Sports (2.15pm kick-off).
