A former soldier from Llandeilo has been jailed for nine years this afternoon after he was convicted of a string of sex offences against a 10 year old girl.
Darren Michael Barton, aged 28, was told by Judge Geraint Walters his victim would suffer life long harm.
Barton, of Bushton, Taliaris, was denied all the charges against him.
But he was found guilty following a trial at Swansea crown court of sexual assault and of inciting her to indulge in sexual activity with him.
Judge Walters said Barton had not shown any type of remorse for what he had done.
"Offences of this type always leave life long marks. There will be a time when it all comes back to her," he added.
Judge Walters said Barton would be on licence from prison for an additional 12 months after he had completed the nine year term.
Judge Walters issued a sexual harm prevention order restricting Barton's access to children after his release.
He was also ordered to register with the police as a sex offender for life.
