AMMANFORD is set to be transformed into a spooky setting ahead of the scariest night of the year.

From a fancy dress parade to an outdoor cinema, you can expect the unexpected on Saturday, October 28 as the town gears up for Halloween.

Ammanford Town Council and Community Partners including Dyfed Powys Police, the AEP and Ammanford Cricket Club are working together to host a fang-tastic free event which will raise money to purchase defibrillators for the town.

The Monster Mash Parade will kick-off the proceedings, which will see ghouls and witches meet by the monument outside Home Bargains at 5pm ready to walk at 5.15pm.

Anybody wishing to take part in the parade must be registered thorough messaging the Facebook page facebook.com/ammanfordhalloween by 5pm on Thursday, October 26.

Entrants need to include full names and ages of those wishing to take part and all children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

A registration number will then be sent out which must be printed and attached to their backs to qualify for the Costumer Competitions.

You must be registered to take part in any part of the event.

Upon arrival to Ammanford Park, the ghosts and ghouls will be directed to take part in the Thriller Flashmob where the Michael Jackson hit will be played to the crowds for everyone to have a boogie led by Statik and Starquest dancers.

The outdoor cinema will take place with Disney’s Hotel Transylvania the choice of film at 7pm.

There will be plenty of stalls on offer serving hot dogs and other terrifying treats and the event will finish at 9pm.

Ammanford Community Development Officer Fiona Wilkins said: “We are looking for volunteers to help set up the event and clean-up after the event finishes.

“We want this event to be bigger and better than ever before and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone at the event.

“You can dress up as scary you like and there are five prize winning categories this year including best family entry. All winners will receive a Halloween trophy on the night.

“There is a pumpkin carving competition too so bring along your own pumpkin design and see if you can impress the judges.”

The costume competition categories are on the Facebook page.

Halloween make-up artists are also needed for the event.
