A LLANGADOG schoolboy has won a Wales-wide competition and bagged his school a £100 prize.

Ten-year-old Gruff Jones’s poster illustrating athletes drinking milk whilst running, with the caption ‘Milk is the best drink’, was chosen as the winner of this year’s Welsh Dairy Show ‘Versatility of Milk’ art competition.

The Ysgol Gynradd Llangadog pupil won a year’s supply of Carmarthenshire Cheese, £50 and a sports drinks bottle. His school, Ysgol Gynradd Llangadog, also received £100.

The second-place winner was Megan Rees, aged 9, again from Ysgol Gynradd Llangadog.

Megan, as the second place winner, received £35, a sports drinks bottle and a certificate.

The overall winners were chosen from the finalists from each county that entered.

Certificates and sports drinks bottles will also be sent to Rhian Hughes and Amelia Ross, both aged 10, from Ysgol Penygroes.

The President of this year’s Show, Mansel Raymond, who farms at Jordanston Hall, will present Ysgol Gynradd Llangadog their prize at the Show on Nantyci Showground.
