Cardigan Croquet Club was officially launched last Wednesday at the Cliff Hotel playing on what must be one of the most breath-taking lawns anywhere in the world – overlooking the Teifi Estuary.

Guests at the launch included hotel owner Wells Jones, business manager Cath Garcia, Welsh Croquet Open Champion and Wales Croquet captain John Evans, Ceredigion Actif officer Steven Jones, Mayor of Cardigan Richard Jones, town and county councillor Clive Davies and 10 members

The club’s first AGM was followed by an hour of play before a delicious Cliff Hotel high tea.

The club is indebted to Mr Jones for allowing the club the use of the lawn and the facilities of the hotel, plus Ceredigion Actif – Sports Wales for the recent grant to buy equipment and have a series of coaching sessions from the Welsh Croquet Champion John Evans.

Although the official season runs from March to October, club committee members will continue to play on certain weekdays in fine weather and are happy for non-members to join in as guests.

Membership to the club for a calendar year, January to December, is £20 and guests play for £2 per session
