A TUMBLE photographer has been shortlisted for a prestigious award, as he launches his newest and biggest project.

Huw Alden Davies has been documenting the life and musings of his father John Alden Davies, known as ‘Prince’, for many years.

The photographer’s first mini project, ‘Prince’, has been shortlisted for the international photography award, the ESPY PhotoAward, and has been on show at Elysium Gallery, Swansea.

Now, Huw is campaigning to get his next project off the ground with a Kickstarter campaign.

Huw’s book, ‘Scaffold to the Moon’ is a photography documentary book tailing the life and musings of his father, inspired by the first publication, ‘Prince’.

Huw said: “This is the biggest and most important project of my career as a photographer.

“So much work has gone into the book and now I’m really hoping this campaign will get it off the ground.

“I have been live streaming from within the confines of my fathers environment so people can experience another dimension to a project that has, lets face it, taken on a life of its own.”

Prince, from Tumble, has been a constant source of anecdotes and Huw’s project started two years ago when he photographed his father’s invention of a toilet roll warmer in the outside toilet.

He has been taking photos and writing about him ever since.

Now, Huw is trying to raise the funds to produce the second book, using Kickstarter for his fundraising campaign.

Kickstarter is an online platform which helps artists, filmmakers, and other creators find the resources and support they need to make their ideas a reality.

“Nothing prepares one for the sense of wonder that is Prince.

“Although I have been inspired by an endless parade of creativity, with a driven need to make, it is quite ironic that this journey begins not with my creativity, but that of my father’s.

“Funnier still, that it should start in an outside toilet,” Huw said.
