The public consultation regarding plans for the redevelopment of Tumble Park has been extended.

The Upper Gwendraeth Valley Sports Club and Community Association held a public meeting on August 31 and presented attendees with designs for the new Tumble Park.

The meeting was an opportunity for residents to see how their views and ideas had been interpreted and incorporated into the redevelopment of the park.

The association is made up of members of clubs and organisations throughout the village.

Llannon Community Council Community Development Officer Christine Davies said: “We combined the information we gathered from a questionnaire and a mapping day which we held earlier this year and passed onto an architect who drew up plans which were presented at the meeting last week.

“It is a controversial project, but we are hoping to get work started in the next six months and the park completed by 2019.”

The association has until September 30 to get a plan designed ready to apply for funding.

Christine also hopes to get the young people from the village involved in the project.

“We are hoping to form a youth group as a part of the redevelopment of the park,” she added.

“During the consultation period a majority of the 16 to 24 age bracket have mentioned that they would like a skate park in the area, so it would be nice to get a group together to design something that they want in the park.

“At the end of the day, the park belongs to the community and we want facilities in the park which residents are going to enjoy.”

The plans are available at Tumble Hall until September 7 and are available to view online at ccllannon.org.uk/developments/
