A Swansea Valley man has this afternoon admitted stabbing to death a mother-of-three.

Keiran Wathan, aged 24, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Sheila Morgan on March 16 of this year.

Wathan, of Gnoll Road, Godrergraig, had denied murder and the plea was accepted by Mr Justice Wyn Williams at Swansea Crown Court.

Wathan also admitted unlawfully wounding her husband Wayne Morgan while Mr Morgan was trying to apprehend him.

Elwen Evans, prosecuting, said in a "tragic and unusual" case Mrs Morgan had been stabbed during the struggle between Wathan and Mr Morgan.

Wathan's manslaughter admission, she added, included the fact that he had entered the home of Mr and Mrs Morgan in Caermawr Road, Morriston, while armed with a knife.

Wathan will be sentenced in early October.

Mr Justice Williams said he wanted a report into Wathans background before deciding on the length of the prison sentence.

Wathan was remanded in custody meanwhile.

Mrs Morgan died from blood poisoning five days after being stabbed.
