A family-run business in Capel Hendre is celebrating keeping the Prince of Wales' Carmarthenshire home pest free for over eight years.

PreventaPest was set up by husband and wife team Huw and Barbara Richards in September 2005 and started trading in October 2005.

Over the last 12 years, the business has provided a rodent prevention service across Mid and South Wales and the border counties.

The Richards family were issued with a royal warrant from HRH Prince Charles in 2015 having providing the service to the future kings Myddfai residency since 1999.

Barbara said: “My husband Huw has been proving the service at the royal home of Prince Charles in Myddfai for around eight years.

“We were delighted to be awarded a Royal Warrant in 2015.

“Both me and my husband have met Prince Charles at social occasions and he is a friendly chap.”

Companies can apply for a Royal Warrant after they have supplied the Households of HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh or HRH The Prince of Wales with goods or services for at least five years out of seven (to include during the 12 months before applying).

A spokesperson for the Royal Warrant Holders Association said: “Royal Warrants are granted for up to five years and are given only to companies that provide goods or services to the Royal Household."
