Recent proposals to install parking restrictions along Ammanford Road in Tycroes have been met with public concern.

The Tycroes stretch of the A483 is managed by the South Wales Trunk Road Agency who have recently proposed restrictions outside shops and homes in the area, but concerns have been raised by residents about the clarity and effect of the proposal to place yellow lines on part of the road.

Joyce Watson AM and Tycroes Councillor Tina Higgins have recently met on site to discuss the issues.

Explaining what actions she had taken so far, Cllr Higgins said: "When I saw the notice for restrictions I immediately informed all of the residents along the road and wrote to the Minister in Cardiff.

“From the responses I've been given it's clear that people in the village agree that something needs to be done, but residents don't want the problem shifted to nearby streets.

“I'm pleased that the Minister has replied and confirmed there will be a public consultation in the near future."

Joyce Watson AM added: "It's clear that something has to be done along the road, but it must be done in consultation with the public.

“I'm sure that a sensible solution can be reached as long as the people living along the road and near it are given the chance to have their say.

“I'm glad to hear that the Minister will be ensuring a proper consultation process is followed through."
