A TYCROES woman suffered "a momentary lapse of judgement" when she failed to stop at a level crossing.

Julie Lloyd of Pontarddulais Road, failed to stop at Ffairfach Level Crossing after the red light signals had begun to flash and the barriers had started to descend on April 20.

Laura Sherwood, defending, told Llanelli magistrates court that the 56-year-old had been unable to react in time after the warning lights began to flash.

Ms Sherwood said: "She was already at the crossing when the lights began and she didn’t have enough time to stop.

“Lloyd has held a driving licence for 30 years which is clean.

“It was a momentary lapse in judgement."

Lloyd admitted failing to adhere to a traffic control signal.

She was given three penalty points and fined £40.

She was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 legal surcharge.

The incident is the latest of a series of near-misses at the crossing in recent years.
