An Ammanford father and daughter have teamed up to drive a £300 banger over 2,000 miles to raise money for charity.

Bubbles Laundrette owner Kevin Thomas and his daughter Elin recently took part in the Monte Carlo or Bust Rally in aid of Dyspraxia Foundation.

The banger rally is a popular annual event which officially begins in St Quentin, France and finishes in Monte Carol via Switzerland and Italy but Kevin decided to start their epic adventure from their hometown.

Driving their old Daihatshu Cuore, which has been used to deliver laundry to Ammanford customers, the duo left Ammanford on June 14 and returned back seven days later following the 2,300 round-trip.

Kevin, who has owned the business for over 25 years, said: “My daughter Elin has a mild form of dyspraxia and we wanted to do something different to raise money for the charity.

“There was around 30 to 40 cars at the rally. We even had a bubble machine coming out of our car.

“We shared the driving duties and it was a good experience.

“I would like to do it again but maybe not for a few years. I’d like to try another location next time maybe further east.”

Kevin and Elin managed to raise £750 for Dyspraxia Foundation

“I would like to thank my customers and the people of Ammanford for their kind donations,” said Kevin.

Dyspraxia is a development disorder of the brain in childhood causing difficulty in activities requiring coordination and movement.
