A GARNSWLLT woman is trying to find the people who rescued her when she after she succumbed to heatstroke while out walking at the weekend.

Sandra Clarke, 59, set out from her home on Sunday morning, but the keen walker lost her way after taking a wrong turn near Coynant Farm and the Upper Lliw Reservoir.

Sandra was unable to get a signal on her mobile phone and - as temperatures soared to above 26 degrees - began to feel unwell.

“I was terrified,” she said.

“There was no one for miles around me and I couldn’t contact anyone.

“Everything was going black and I was very hot.

“Nothing seemed to make sense and every step was disorientating.

“By the time I found some people, I had been out in the heat for around five hours.”

Fortunately, Sandra eventually spotted a group of walkers in the distance and was able to alert them to her by calling for help.

By the time members of the group were able to reach her, Sandra had collapsed and had to be carried to safety.

“I was so exhausted and disorientated,” she said.

“The people that found me were unbelievable.

“They called an ambulance, gave me food and fluids and Sarah, a nurse, gave me first aid while we were waiting for the ambulance.

“The ambulance-men were equally as incredible.

“They insisted on driving me home after making sure I was OK.”

Now she has recovered from her ordeal, Sandra wants to find the people who helped her when she was in need.

“It took a good while to get back to my feet, but I am just so thankful to those people for helping me,” she said.

“They were completely selfless and stayed with me far longer than they needed to, just to make sure I was OK.

“I am so so grateful and I really want to thank them.”

Sandra knows the nurse in the group was called Sarah and the paramedics were Darran and Paul.

“With all the hate and awful things going on in the world at the moment, this has restored my faith in humanity,” said Sandra.

“I have definitely learnt my lesson.

“It just so happened that I fell into some bad luck that day, but I am so lucky and thankful that those people were there.”
